I was feeling quite confident as I headed down to Donington Park. The results may not have been brilliant at Brands Hatch but we showed we had the pace in the Celtic Speed car and the there was a feeling within the whole team that we had real shot at a podium after a very positive pre season test at Donington in March. The circuit is such an exciting venue. There is everything from fast-flowing curves, slow corners and plenty of chances to overtake if you get it all right.

On Thursday the 12th Rory achived the 4th quickest lap time at Donington Park after the two free pracatice times Rory was only 0.2 sconds of the fastest driver, highlighting the great progress the Celtic Speed Team from Montrose is making this year.

As there is a noise restriction at Donington Park restricting more than two consecutive race days all competing drivers will have a day off on Friday the 13th.

Scottish racing driver, David Wagner, got his 2012 Formula Renault BARC campaign off to superb start with a podium and two top six finishes to leave him sitting third in the championship.

Announcing the news on twitter, Rory Butcher from Celtic Speed has today been promoted to pro class in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB – up from the pro am 1 class.

From Fife, Rory is a rising star contesting the full Porsche Carrera Cup season for the first time last year.

It was the first outing for new pairing of Craig Rutherford (21) from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull and Martin MacCabe(51) from Glasgow on the Border Counties Rally.

Craig and Martin were using Craig’s Honda Civic Type R and they are the first crew to sign up for the Ecosse Challenge Championship for these cars.

44 super sportscars representing 13 brands compete in the new season

The ADAC GT Masters grid for 2012 is complete. A record field of 44 super sportscars representing 13 different brands tackle the ‘league of super sportscars’ at the opening round at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben between 30 March and 1 April. The two remaining grid slots available went to the Dutch team DB Motorsport which fields a pair of BMW Z4.
 

Scottish racing driver, David Wagner, will continue with front running Formula Renault BARC team MGR Motorsport in 2012. “After a strong first year with MGR, it is important to build on that experience and I am confident that we can work together and fight for the championship.”
 
MGR’s Team Principal, Mark Godwin said, “It is great to have David back on board for a second season. He really showed us last year that he has the pace to win races and the title. We have planned a thorough pre-season testing programme to get him fully prepared."
