Alain Menu took his second victory of this season leading home his team-mates Rob Huff (2nd) and Yvan Muller (3rd) in race 1 (round 5) of the WTCC championship on the streets of Marrakech, Morocco. The trio of blue Chevrolet's led from the rolling start off the grid, leaving the drivers behind fighting for positions.

The exciting start of the third and fourth rounds of the 2012 WTCC championship in Valencia intensified when Dudukalo's car caught fire after qualifying.

The 2012 FIA WTCC kicked off just like the 2011 season had ended, and the opening weekend of was dominated by the Chevrolet team. A 1-2 in the first race was bettered in the second with one of the blue Cruze cars occupying every one of the podium places. It was the reigning Drivers’ Champion, Yvan Muller, who left Monza with the biggest smile - the Frenchman won both races and so already has a healthy lead in the series.

Honda today announced that the Honda Civic will race in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

“We have made a decision” said Honda CEO, Takanobu Ito “to enter into the WTCC with the European Civic. We will develop a totally new engine for this project and we are all excited about starting this new challenge.”
